Cinematic Studies
Southwest Middle School offers a communications-focused Cinematic Studies Choice Program for students in grades 6-8. Our in-person Cinematic Studies Open House will be held Tuesday, January 14th, 5-6 p.m. at SWMS, 6030 Ogeechee Rd.
The Cinematic Studies program explores the history of mass media, terminology, safety, basic equipment operation, script writing, storyboarding, and production teams. A close look at planning, writing, directing, recording and editing a production, graphic communications, and professional ethics, encompasses the real-world, hands on projects completed in the course work. In addition, students acquire a fundamental understanding of the media and film industry in the Savannah region, the state of Georgia, and beyond. This program also serves as a pipeline to other Choice Programs at the high school level.
